2020 Iowa Great Lakes Walleye Weekend

Mark your calendars for the 38th Annual Iowa Great Lakes Walleye Weekend May 2-3, 2020!

Calling all fishermen and women: get ready to kick off the 2020 walleye season in the Iowa Great Lakes during the 38th Annual Walleye Weekend on May 2 and 3. The fun weekend forming memories with friends and families is reason alone to get excited, but there is one other aspect that you can’t forget: the $38,000 GRAND PRIZE!
 
The cost of the tournament is $25 for entrants aged 16 and older, and $15 for those aged 15 and younger. The Extended Contest is only an additional $15 and allows you to continue to fish for one of the tagged walleye through August 31st. The first walleye caught during the extended contest heads home with 20% of the proceeds generated from the contest, the second receives 15%, and the third receives 10%.
 
Walleye Weekend officially begins at 12:01 AM on Saturday, May 2nd and concludes at noon on Sunday, May 3rd. There will be an Awards Luncheon at the Dickinson County Expo Building in Spirit Lake beginning at noon on Sunday. The Luncheon is free to those who registered in the tournament, and it is just $5 for the general public.
 
In addition to the tagged walleye, there are also fantastic prizes for the heaviest stringer of 3 walleye, heaviest northern pike, heaviest stringer of 5 panfish, and heaviest stringer of 10 bullhead. Well over $3,500 in prizes for the largest fish contests will be presented during the Awards Luncheon on Sunday at the Dickinson County Expo Building as well as $1,000 in Chamber Bucks and merchandise prizes from Chamber members.
