This year’s Habitat Happenings Camp will focus on Iowa’s prairie heritage through a unique combination of

hands-on exploration and…puppet theatre! On day 1 of camp, students will investigate the geological and natural history of local prairies and be personally introduced to the flowers, grasses, insects and other animals of the prairie. On days 2 and 3 we will be joined by puppeteers from Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre! Puppeteers will work with students to rehearse “Portraits of the Prairie” a puppet show about the history of the Iowa landscape and peoples from the Ice Age to the present. Students will learn how to use, make and manipulate puppets, and represent flowers, butterflies, chickens, pigs and other creatures to perform the show for the public on the afternoon of the last day (Day 4) of camp.
