Milt Heinrich: The Reconstructed Image

June 18th through August 2nd
Weaver Lobby Gallery and McIlrath Landing Gallery
Opening Reception: Thursday, June 18th, 5 – 7 p.m.

Heinrich began his art career as an abstractionist. Early on I was influenced the cubist’s view of the world. In recent years my paintings have become a combination of Cubist visual interventions and a more traditional approach to the visual world that interests me. I propose, for this exhibition, a collection of recent and upcoming paintings that juxtapose the flat geometric planes I find particularly in Midwest landscapes but also in cityscapes and still life arrangements. I hope that viewers will see the construct underneath the literal image and perhaps wrestle with the spatial ambiguity I try to present.
