1 in 5 teens and young adults live with a Mental Health Condition. 64% of youth with major depression do not receive any Mental Health Treatment. 1 in 4 11th graders in Iowa have had suicidal thoughts in the past year.
Youth Mental Health First Aid teach adults who work with 12-18-year old youth the skills they need to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health issues , including Anxiety, Depression, Eating Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Substance Abuse.
This course will teach you how to apply the ALGEE action plan: Assess for risk of suicide or harm, Listen non judgmentally, Give reassurance and information, Encourage appropriate professional help, Encourage self-help and other support strategies.
