University of Okoboji Homecoming


          The 41st Annual University of Okoboji Homecoming is this weekend July 20th thru July 22nd in the Iowa Great Lakes.  The University of Okoboji Marathon will begin this Saturday morning bright and early at 6AM at Arnolds Park Amusement Park.  Many Marathon entrants from across the United States are entered as a step on their goal of completing a marathon in all 50 states. 


          Other events include the University of Okoboji Triathlon at 7 AM from Arnolds Park Amusement Park.  The Half-Marathon at 8 AM from the Wahpeton City Park on Highway 86.  The 10K from the Methodist camp at 9 AM. 


          Entrants are encouraged to get their entries in as soon as possible as all registration closes 5 PM Thursday July 19th.  Runners can register online at www.threesons.com, please click on the “Events Tab.”


          Founder and Director for Life, Bob Rose of Spencer Iowa, expects one of the best turnouts ever.  Finish line for all events is the State Pier in front of the Arnolds Park Amusement Park.  Everyone is encouraged to cheer the runners along the course or at the finish line.  The awards ceremony will be at 11AM Saturday at the State Pier finish line. 


          Free live entertainment in Preservation Plaza Saturday night featuring “Thunderstruck.”  Fireworks at 10:07 PM over West Lake Okoboji Saturday night. 


          Other Homecoming activities include Sail Boat Races, Fishing, Tennis, Bicycle Trail Rides, and the Okoboji Summer Theater’s Production of a classic comedy “Not Now, Darling.”  The only required course this Homecoming weekend is a cruise on the Queen II and a tour of the Maritime Museum, located next to the Arnolds Park Amusement Park.  Extra credit courses are offered for attendance at the Amusement Park.  You are also invited to join all Campus Fraternities and Sororities for their Homecoming activities and parties.
